About The Arc

Meet the Trustees

David Sangwine

As Secretary to the Woodthorpe Residents Association, I was invited to become a trustee by The Arc team. I was already looking to expand into charity work and was impressed by their dedication and enthusiasm.

High quality facilities are important to our community and it takes a dedicated team to manage The Arc effectively and make things happen. I believe I bring a wide range of skills to this team.

Now retired, but professionally I held charterships in both Occupational Safety and Health and also in Textile Chemistry. Previous occupational roles included that of Works Chemist, Project Management, Quality and Environment Manager, all in large high-quality manufacturing operations. In addition, a support role was included as Sector Chairman to the British Coatings Federation.

Current activities include heritage vehicle restoration, making guitars and beekeeping.

Hello. I am delighted to join the Arc Team & look forward to sharing the ‘next steps’ with the staff, volunteers & visitors of the Hub.

I moved to Grange Park 15 years ago with my husband, watching with interest to see how the area has grown & changed during that time.

I am retired & keep myself busy with a variety of interests & hobbies. I now want to contribute to community life in the area by bringing some of my experience & skills to the Trustee role, channelling my energy into supporting the aspirations & addressing the challenges that lie ahead for the centre.

I am really excited to get involved with The Arc and the community, as a trustee and volunteer for many of the exciting classes and events happening.

Through my career as a Pharmacist in the Pharmaceutical Industry, I have balanced family life and many voluntary roles in my local school as a governor, and committees for the village hall and church.

I am now at a stage of my life where I have reduced my work and am keen to use my business, and skills to benefit others.

I have a fond relationship with Loughborough after spending a good part of my career working and living in the area.

I look forward to being part of The Arcs future.

I’m a relative newcomer to Loughborough and Grange Park. I found The Arc soon after moving here and I’ve met a lot of lovely people through the activities that I attend and have been made to feel very welcome.

I believe The Arc is a real asset to the community and, by becoming a trustee I now have the opportunity to work with a great team to achieve The Arc’s vision by listening and responding to the needs of local people. We have this great facility on our doorstep with the aim of providing services and activities across the wide spectrum of our users and I am committed to contributing to the ongoing growth and development of this successful community facility.

Hello! I’m a Grange Park local and have lived in Loughborough all my life. Growing up within the local Indian community, community spirit was a constant presence in my life.

Following in my late father’s footsteps—someone instrumental in driving community initiatives—I now proudly serve as a Trustee at The Arc.

My background lies in the pharmaceutical field and includes expertise in Lean Six Sigma — a versatile set of skills encompassing efficiency, management, and an analytical mindset.

Why am I here? To channel my abilities for good! The passionate team at The Arc has a vision, and I’m fully committed. Let’s sprinkle some funding magic and enhance community events at our hub together!

Not only am I a regular hirer of the facilities, running my Pilates classes from the hall at The Arc Community Centre, I am also a fully qualified chartered accountant with over 20 years of management accounting experience. I am thrilled to be able to use my knowledge and experience to give back to the community, and support a vital hub for the local area.
Having worked across retail, manufacturing and facilities management in an accounting role, managing both finances and people, and now running my own business, it seemed a great opportunity to also join the trustees as the honorary treasurer and support the great work the centre and trustees do.
I look forward to seeing the growth of The Arc and the services it delivers to the Grange Park and Shelthorpe community.

I’m a Shelthorpe resident and borough councillor who wants the best for my area. I want to help create a hub where residents feel secure and have a wide range of activities to enjoy which will nurture their physical and mental health.

Let’s have fun!

I have lived in Loughborough since 1993 and near to the Arc since 2022. I really liked the area and wanted to meet new people and get involved with the community, so I started volunteering at the Arc in 2023. I am still helping run the cafe for Tuesday Treks and at other events, as well as being Secretary for the Arc Trustees.
I am a qualified musician and worked as an instrumental teacher for several years. I have also worked as a learning support assistant in schools, as an admin assistant, and most recently, as a bookkeeper. I’m not currently in paid employment, but keep myself busy with volunteering at the Arc, for the HWRA, doing a small amount of self-employed admin work,  and doing a printmaking course at Leicester Print Workshop. I’m also a carer for a family member and I care a lot about supporting Autistic people, people with ADHD and with disabilities in general.
I think the Arc is a great place that brings people together. I look forward to continuing my involvement.
