About The Arc

Meet the Trustees

As Secretary to the Woodthorpe Residents Association, I was invited to become a trustee by The Arc team. I was already looking to expand into charity work and was impressed by their dedication and enthusiasm.

High quality facilities are important to our community and it takes a dedicated team to manage The Arc effectively and make things happen. I believe I bring a wide range of skills to this team.

Now retired, but professionally I held charterships in both Occupational Safety and Health and also in Textile Chemistry. Previous occupational roles included that of Works Chemist, Project Management, Quality and Environment Manager, all in large high-quality manufacturing operations. In addition, a support role was included as Sector Chairman to the British Coatings Federation.

Current activities include heritage vehicle restoration, making guitars and beekeeping.

I am both a lecturer and a business owner and live in the community. I am and have always been passionate about courses that engage and support community and was thrilled when I was invited to be a Trustee.

With a business and marketing background and expertise, I want to support the Charity to become more visible and to widely reach the community with its programmes and activities. I would also use my expertise and skills to support the Charity to review existing programmes and design new ones to meet the needs/changing needs of the community.

I run a Loughborough based business and wished to get involved in this worthwhile community project.  I was excited to be invited to be a Trustee and certainly enjoy the challenges that the role brings.  The role brings the benefits of working with a diverse, interested team of talented and dedicated people.

Bringing general business skills to the role of a Trustee is important to me, as is ensuring that we keep the staff, volunteers and members of the public accessing our centre safe.  I am also relishing the challenge of promoting the Arc to the local community, focussing on offerings on the needs of that community and protecting the charity from the current economic situation

I’m a Shelthorpe resident and borough councillor who wants the best for my area. I want to help create a hub where residents feel secure and have a wide range of activities to enjoy which will nurture their physical and mental health.

Let’s have fun!
